This is a nice chess set for travel or home use. I personally bought it because I wanted a smaller, portable set to carry places. The magnetized board and pieces are what made the price acceptable. I didn't care for the thin plastic moldings to hold the pieces. They didn't hold them well and one didn't want to stay in the box. I threw the molds away and glued red felt inside both compartments. The pieces are loose, inside but now it looks like a $40. set.

The chess set is functional though not as nice as it looks in the picture. The board is not glossy as you see in the photo and the pieces are stored in a platform that is not stable and shifts frequently. Even if you place the chess pieces in their designated location, the pieces fall all over the place as you try to fold the board for storage.

When I opened up the box it was shipped in one of the sides of the board had detached from the hinges. I had to glue the board back together and I only hope it holds. Since I had to repair it, it will stand up to my students' prolonged and frequent use in chess club.

We bought this for our 7 year old grandson that has shown some interest in chess for his birthday. It seems to be of a nice quality. Don't know if the insert for the pieces will hold up but they can certainly be stored inside without the insert.

I wanted a travel set for my grandson and I to share. I wanted one that was large enough and had wooden pieces (quality image). The board quality was fantastic for the price. The pieces were okay.
